Drumset for Beginners (book) by Paul Hose and Jim Farey today received yet another positive review from German Periodical.

Using the free translation tool provided by Google (so please allow for errors) it reads:

Beginner books for the drum set already in abundance, but the work is published in the alfred publishing something really special.

The two authors are experienced and extremely talented drummer, the teachers have to know everything collected on drums. The book is divided into five main chapters. In Chapter 1 of the beginner, the base is closer to the drum playing: note values, rests, chart-reading, first grooves and fill-ins. Discussed are also the first pro-independence or Koordinationsübungen.

The entire subject matter is clear and also provides extremely entertaining. In Chapter 2 the students have already learned interpretations of note values (reading exercises) on the snare drum and the drum set in conjunction with grooves and fill-ins. Again, there are more exercises to independence in combination with eighth and sixteenth notes.

Chapter 3 is devoted to the triplet: the student learns the Shuff-Groove and the Jazz Ride Pattern. Even the broom game is made clear under the microscope. In
Chapter 4, Clave and the corresponding grooves, such as Cha-cha, Bossa Nova, Mambo, Mozambique, Samba, Songo, 6 \ 8-Afro Cuban Bolero and treated. In the last chapter of the vortex and the flame are analyzed.

Very helpful are the references for further reading in each chapter and the nice layout. For any interested teachers, this work is recommended, just! It is well thought out and very creatively and constructively established.

The book is also accompanied by a CD for Playalongs the related charts, you also can not print PDF files. Conclusion: for every dedicated teacher a fantastic addition to the existing teaching literature.

Anfängerbücher für das Drumset gibt es schon zur Genüge, aber dieses im AlfredVerlag erschienene Werk ist wirklich etwas Besonderes.

Die zwei Autoren sind erfahrene Drummer und äußerst begabte Lehrer die alles Wissenswertes zum Thema Schlagzeug zusammengetragen haben. Das Buch gliedert sich in fünf Hauptkapitel. In Kapitel 1 wird dem Anfänger die Basis des Schlagzeugspiels nähergebracht: Notenwerte, Pausen, Chart- Reading, erste Grooves und Fill-Ins. Besprochen werden auch erste Unabhängigkeits- bzw. Koordinationsübungen.

Der gesamte Unterrichtsstoff wird klar und auch äußerst unterhaltsam vermittelt. In Kapitel 2 erlernt der Schüler bereits Interpretationen von Notenwerten (Leseübungen) auf der Kleinen Trommel sowie am Drumset in Verbindung mit Grooves und Fill-Ins. Für jeden interessierten Lehrer ist dieses Werk einfach nur zu empfehlen! Es ist gut durchdacht und äußerst kreativ und konstruktiv aufgebaut. Dem Buch liegt zudem eine CD für Playalongs die dazugehörigen Charts bei, die man auch noch als PDF-Dateien ausdrucken kann.

Fazit: für jeden engagierten Lehrer eine fantastische Ergänzung zur bereits bestehenden Unterrichtsliteratur.

A unique approach to learning drums.

You might be forgiven for assuming that this is another drum book for beginners, and whilst that is the case it's actually really aimed at the person teaching them.

Designed to give a thorough understanding of the essentials, the book guides both student and teacher through a wealth of information from basic beats and fills to jazz, Latin rhythms and chart reading. Throughout, the authors recommend classic drum books that can be used to explore each area further with things concluding with a selection of playalong tracks and charts to put everything into context.

This is a fairly niche area for drum books and one that's not really been explored or catered for, and in this respect it fulfils its objective well whilst perhaps attempting to cover more ground than is important to the average beginner. That said, any teacher that manages to guide their student through the material presented will have set them up with an excellent set of musical skills. (PR)

Paul Hose to speak and play at the Jim Chapin memorial

UK based drummer and educator, Paul Hose has announced that he will speak and play at the Jim Chapin memorial concert in New York next week. Paul said “I’m delighted to have been asked to take part in next week’s memorial. I knew Jim for over 10 years and he was not only a magnificent teacher, but a great friend too.”

About Paul

Paul Hose’s career as a drummer is colourful and diverse. Not only is Paul known and respected as a teacher, but as a concert performer, and recording artist too.
Paul’s live work includes television broadcast productions, arena shows, festivals, touring theatre shows and much more. Paul has worked with a host of artists from across the musical spectrum including Sarah Jory, The English National Ballet and he continues to tour with the A1 Events production, “To be Frank,” a tribute to Sinatra and the Rat Pack under the musical direction of Matt Stacey.
As an educator Paul has taught and given lectures (in a clinic environment) in his native UK and in Spain, Singapore and Brazil.

‘JIM CHAPIN MEMORIAL TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP’ TO BE LAUNCHED AT THE HARD ROCK CAFÉ IN NEW YORK CITY ON FEBRUARY 17

On February 17, Dom Famularo, the Chapin family and some of the biggest names in the music industry will launch the Jim Chapin Memorial Teacher Scholarship at the famed Hard Rock Café in New York City. The event, which celebrates the legacy of one of drumming’s most dedicated and influential legends, will feature Famularo as master of ceremonies and will include performances by some of today’s leading drummers, along with music by members of the Chapin family (Tom, Jen, Steve, Abigail, Lily, David and Paul Chapin).

Mr. Chapin, who passed away on July 4, 2009, just shy of his 90th birthday, was known as the “Father of Independence”, due in a large part to the revolutionary book he published in 1948 entitled Advanced Techniques for the Modern Drummer, Vol. I. Still in print today, it became known among drummers simply as “The Chapin Book” and is arguably the most important drum set text ever written. In 1994, Mr. Chapin received two honors for his contributions to music and education: the American Eagle Award, presented by the National Music Council in Washington, DC and a lifetime achievement award from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. And in 1995, he was inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame.

The Jim Chapin Memorial Teacher Scholarship will be given annually, beginning in 2010, and is open to instructors that want to improve their teaching programs. Specific details on how and when to apply will be disseminated in the near future.

Said Famularo, a student and friend of the late drumming icon: “Jim was a one-of-a-kind person and player. He was committed to learning the art of modern drumming and giving that knowledge away. He always had his sticks with him, ready to teach anyone who wanted to know anything about drumming. Jim was all about sharing and the memorial event and scholarship will guarantee that his legacy continues.”

The Jim Chapin Memorial Teacher Scholarship will be maintained by the Percussive Arts Society (PAS). Contributions can be made at the February 17 event and any other time by check payable to PAS/Jim Chapin Scholarship or online.

Are local musicians worth a Big Mac?

Nottingham has a massive music scene. There is no doubt that the scene is tiered - artists such as Beyonce play at the 12,000 capacity arena, Tribute shows and orchestras can be found at the 2,500 seat concert hall and there is the world famous Rock City which has played host to many artists over the years.

On a local level Rock, Indie, Jazz, Folk and more can be found at bars such as The Social, The Central, Shaw's, The Bell Inn and The Lion to name but a few.

Now I ask you; when was the last time you payed to watch either a local act or a touring act - perhaps one signed to a feeder label?

Patrons of Nottingham's bars are treated to a wide range of diverse talent every week. The bars can't afford to pay musicians a proper fee and likely as not, patrons would not care to pay the price of a Big Mac meal or less in an effort to support those who entertain them all night.

So what is the answer? I don't think there is one single answer but perhaps an answer could be merchandise. Perhaps people would pay for a CD or a t-shirt. Musicians need to become more commercial and diversify more if their compositions are to survive.

Please support local musicians. You would miss them if they weren't there. Buy their CDs, join their mailing lists as the result can only be a healthier music community that will deliver music thus enhancing your evening.

Nottingham based drum teachers, Paul Hose and Jim Farey have this week been recording additional tracks for their forthcoming book, Drumset for Beginners.

It is said that the book will contain some 200 audio tracks on a media CD thus making the project a comprehensive guide to learning the drums.

The book is set to be released by Alfred Publishing - the world's largest music print publisher - in December 2009.

July 13th 2009 saw over 580 drummers smash a world record and raise money in aid of the MS Society!

Jim Chapin 1919-2009

I was on holiday with my family in one of the most beautiful parts of England and my phone began ringing off the hook - all telling me the same sad news - Jim Chapin had passed away.
I first met Jim in the mid 90s. He was a touring clinician and I was a teacher in a music shop who played host to him. By the end of the 90s my relationship with Jim had become one of both teacher/student and friend.

His popularity in Nottingham had grown to such extent that we would host Jim for a week at a time twice per year. He would teach, give clinics and on one occassion we assembled a group of jazz musicians and Jim headlined a sell-out gig in front of an adoring crowd.

Every time I would see him he would grab me and pull me close; "How's business, Paul? Are you playing? Tell me you're out there playing!"

I like so many others have so many wonderful memories of Jim - stories from his childhood in England; his time during the military; we would discuss politics; he would muse over stories about his family - Harry, James, his father James and his mother Abigail. In particular I can recall a group of us out for dinner one evening and a mutual friend of ours asked Jim about his life and what emotion he felt when he recalled it all. He answer was typical Chapin; "It's a beautiful dream."

Jim loved England and England loved Jim. We will all miss him. I certainly will. There is no doubt that all paths lead back to Chapin. I'm devastated to learn of his passing.

I hope your drumming and practise is going well! Please take a moment to fill out this form in order to tell me your favourite artists: http://www.mlc-academy.com/#/artists/4533307194. This will help me tailor your lessons towards your favourite genres.

When practising please adopt the following structure.

Performance 50%
It is of course very important to remember why it is we play the drums: to play the drums! However, the other areas of your study will enhance your performance skills. Remember; you can’t perform anything without the tools (technique,) the understanding (theory) and of course knowledge is power!
Technique 25%
Dictionary definition: The way in which the fundamentals, as of an artistic work, are handled. I would not ask you to practise anything for the sake of it. Please find time to practise rudiments, chart reading, bass drum technique and of course pay particular attention to how you hold your sticks.
Theory 15%
Reading, writing, speaking – music is a language. Let’s make sure we can read it and write it as it will help recall your lessons in an effective and consistent manner.
Knowledge 10%
Take time to surf the internet, read books and magazines, subscribe to free podcasts in order to learn about the art form, its celebrated individuals, up and coming talent, news, views, gossip and so on. It will inspire you and assist hugely in the learning process.

So how much time should I practise? In my opinion – little and often but do ensure that you take all of the above onboard and use it to your advantage. Finally, please feel free to alter this pie chart to suit your needs.

Friday 22nd May 2009 will see Nottingham music school, MLC Academy play host to master drummer and clinician, Thomas Lang. This exciting day will consist of two classes - 11am and 2:30pm and will be limited to 20 people per class.

Limiting the number of attendees allows students to bring their practise pads and sticks thus affording them to actively participate in the class and to gain as much of an incite possible from Lang - a critically acclaimed world class drummer. Furthermore attendees are encouraged to ask Thomas questions making the class a session not to be missed!

Louie bellson 1924-2009

On Valentine's Day, 14 February 2009, Luigi Paulino Alfredo Francesco Antonio Balassoni passed away.

I first saw Louie play on the Buddy Rich memorial concert video back in 1989 and was blown away by his style, showmanship and musicality.

I was fortunate to meet Louie a couple of times at the NAMM show - such a gentleman. It is fair to say that I didn't know him very well but I will miss him. Thankfully we can still enjoy his music.

Review: Drumfest Spain 2008 feat. Dani Perez, Paul Hose, Ray Luzier & Dom Famularo

Logrono, Spain burst in to life last weekend for the 4th International Drumming Festival! The line up was varied and colourful which resulted in an explosion of talent and diversity! The venue was a sport's arena with an incredible stage area that featured a huge screen projecting the event to the 3000+ audience.

PORRINA PERCUSION opened the event full of life and flamenco song! The perfect opening to a late summer festival in the heart of Spain's wine making region was quickly followed by Madrid's DANI PEREZ.

Dani's blend of powerhouse grooves and incredible chops lifted the energy of the appreciative home crowd. Dani performed for 20 minutes and then took to the mic to introduce the U.K's PAUL HOSE.

Paul took to the stage to perform two tunes written and arranged by Emmy and Grammy award winner, Gordon Goodwin. The 18 piece big band arrangements included a tribute to the legendary Tito Puente! Paul closed his set with an especially re-mixed version of Beyonce's "Crazy In Love" which segwayed in to the Latin classic, "Rio de Samba!" It was then Paul's turn to introduce his friend, L.A. based, RAY LUZIER.

Ray was made most welcome by a host of adoring KoRn fans and he waisted no time by bursting in to a medley of KoRn classics that climaxed with a solo that bought the house down! Ray's energy and experience of stadium shows enabled him to engage with every member of the audience with ease and for many, Ray stole the show. Having amazed the audience with his performance, Ray then introduced Drumming's Global ambassador, DOM FAMULARO.

Dom connected with the crowd immediately and took to the drums to perform his tribute to friend and colleague, Jeff Porcaro entitled "One For Jeff!" after which he launched in to a solo that featured many of Dom's signature licks what have wowed audiences world-wide. Dom then welcomed back to the stage, DANI PEREZ, PAUL HOSE & RAY LUZIER for for ten minute ensemble that allowed each artist to shine on stage with their piers.

The audience then lined up for autographs and photos as the stage was prepared for Spanish rock band, SAVIA who performed a full set in to the small hours of the morning. The festival was an incredible success with the organisers confirming that the performances were the best yet which was matched by the highest attendance.

The following morning saw Porrina Percusion and messers Perez, Hose, Luzier & Famularo gather at the Wurth museum of modern art to give a series of lectures in front of a 400 strong crowd. Porrina demonstrated their complex and colourful rhythms that quickly resulted in audience participation as the band performed a couple of tunes. Dani gave away his trade secrets as he explained the importance of technique coupled with accents that help him express himself on the drums - a superb class which was very well received.

Paul concentrated on performance. His class was fun and concluded With a guessing game that had the audience shouting out their answers and interacting with Paul from start to finish. The humble Brit received a rapurtous applause and was followed by Dom who gave an enthusiastic and comedic routine which included an insight in to his diverse and colourful life.

It was then left to Ray to give the final class. Ray took it upon himself to drill home to the youngsters the importance of taking care of One's self physically, emotionally, commercially and of course, musically. Ray again demonstrated why he is in such demand across the world and finished by inviting Dani, Paul and Dom back to stage to perform another ensemble which finished with an incredible wall of sound.

It goes without saying that the 4th International Drumming Fesitval, Spain was an incredible success which will take some beating next year. What a challenge! I have no doubt that the organisers will rise to it!

Nottingham based drum teacher Paul Hose goes international

Nottingham based drum teacher, Paul Hose today announced that he is in preparation for a series of performances the likes of which he has never done before.

Paul has been invited to perform at a series of drum education events in England, Spain and Brazil! Paul's clinic will feature music from friends Vincenzo De Martino and Lee Wrathe!

Paul says: "Vincenzo is a fantastic guitarist from Italy. I love his version of Brazil and he kindly gave me a version of the song for me to perform at these shows.

"Lee and I have worked together for many years and he has had incredible success in Japan. Lee and I last performed together when supporting Freak Kitchen on their 2005 European tour.

"I am very happy to be showcasing both Vincenzo and Lee at these events as they are both incredible musicians!"

The events start in July and finish in December. Further details will be released in later postings.

After a morning of catching up with the Mapex, Sabian, Alfred and Baskey staff with hundreds of school children checking out the LIMS stands, it's time for Paul to head to Spain and Jim to head back to Nottingham to teach at the MLC-Academy.

Bruno Meeus recently collaborated on the English version of his book "Dia meters" with Paul Hose. His bag is musical applications of polyrhythms and other more prog-esque things!

I spent an hour or so with Bruno in Frankfurt and it was intense and very educational and eye opening, he's planning on coming to England this summer to perform a clinic at Music Learning Curve Academy in Nottingham.

The class will be 4 hours long at will cost £30.00 and is limited to 15 people!

Bruno Meeus recently collaborated on the English version of his book "Dia meters" with Paul Hose. His bag is musical applications of polyrhythms and other more prog-esque things!

I spent an hour or so with Bruno in Frankfurt and it was intense and very educational and eye opening, he's planning on coming to England this summer to perform a clinic at Music Learning Curve Academy in Nottingham.

The class will be 4 hours long at will cost £30.00 and is limited to 15 people!

MLC Academy has released details of the clinicians who will be teaching at this year's School's Out For Summer event.

Tony Doggan

Tony has been a pro guitarist for all of his life, at the age of 21 he was playing with the likes of Slash in Guns and Roses then proceeded to work with artists and bands such as Julian Cope, Massive Attack and many, many more. Currently on tour with Spiritualized he has found time in his busy schedule to pop in and talk to our budding musicians about life on the road, studio work and offer helpful hints to all the musicians about song writing.

The UK`s number 1 beat boxer! Another local hero Pete is not only spectacular to watch and hear live but is here with us to offer our students a wealth of knowledge about mic technique, singing, song writing and using effects to create amazing sounds. His clinics will no doubt be A LOT of fun as this multi talented musician will get everybody moving and participating in creating music.

Mike Feerick & Dan (Dagga) Knowles

These two are part of the band, Amusement Parks On Fire, which are an internationally signed band, touring not only the UK but the States, Japan and Europe. Both are exceptional guitarists and music producers, they will be talking to the students about song writing, producing, touring and specialized guitar effects. As well as giving clinics Dan will be there on the big day of the final show sound engineering and explaining how to set up, mic up and sound check like a professional through one of the best PA systems in the country.

Gavin Poole

Gavin is a multi talented musician who is in a variety of bands across the midlands. Not only can he play most instruments that are thrown at him, he has a talent for sound engineering and a passion for live performances. He will be Dan Knowles partner in showing the students the ins and outs of live engineering and also in lighting a stage to create a full, involving live experience.

Vic Firth, the world’s leading drum stick manufacturing company, has recognised Nottingham-baseed drummer and teacher Paul Hose for his outstanding contribution to teaching. Paul was presented with the award by Neil Larrivee, Head Of Education, Vic Firth during the 2008 Musik Messe in Frankfurt.

On receiving the award, Paul commented “I am thrilled to receive such an award from Vic Firth, it is an amazing feeling to be recognised for the work I continue to do.”

There is an emphasis on the gentle and exotic bossa nova sounds of the sixties.

English National Ballet Fly To The Moon

English National Ballet's 2008 fundraising gala, The Masquerade Ball, was held at The Dorchester, London on Monday 3 March.

The Dorchester’s beautiful ballroom hosted an evening of opulence and intrigue that saw guests treated to a champagne reception and a three course dinner together with excerpts from English National Ballet’s repertoire and toe-tapping musical entertainment from a special guest Phil Fryer and the Matt Stacey Trio featuring Paul Hose and Dan Ezard.

Guests included Charley Borman, Vanessa Feltz and Natasha Kaplinsky and the night included a unique performance that saw the English National Ballet perform a dance to Frank Sinatra's Fly Me To The Moon (performed by Phil Fryer and his trio.)

Carnaval time

The music industry's annual events wait for no one to recover from Christmas :) January saw the NAMM show in California and February is Carnival time in Brazil. Rio is of course one of the most famous cities in the world and is known for carnaval. However the city of choice for most Brazilian's I know is Salvador, Bahia.

Here are some photos from this year's carnaval which feature Brazilian pop princesses Ivete Sangalo and Claudia Leite.

I cannot believe that it is December! I have been extremely busy working on projects with Matt Stacey, Jim Farey, Swiss Chris, Dom Famularo and Jim Chapin to name but a few.

John, Rory and I are working towards enhancing the website with more audio and video which is exciting and the MLC-A team have really been tremendous this year! Here's to 2008!

So now I begin to turn my focus towards Christmas which is much needed. This year has been quite a year!

New tune released on MLC

Music Learning Curve dot com has just released a new tune by Paul from his forthcoming co-authored book, Drumset for Beginners. The track is called Power Ballad and can be found in the beginner rock sections of Bass, Drumset, Guitar and Piano.

Paul has had great success teaching this tune to his students and hopes others will enjoy it too.

Ninja still riding high in Japan

During the summer of 2005 Paul played on Ninja Guitar by Lee Wrathe which continues to receive critical acclaim by artists such as Steve Vai and Mattias Eklundh and has been particularly well received in Japan. Radio Station, Kobas 83.9FM has received over 10,000 requests for Lee’s album to be played and tracks have been downloaded from the Kobas website.

Paul to play at an event hosted by the English National Ballet

Paul has confirmed that the Matt Stacey trio (featuring Paul) will be joined by Phil Fryer (as Frank Sinatra) to perform at the event hosted by the English National Ballet which is to be held at London's Dorchester Hotel.

Hello again.

I had planned to write gig reviews relating to shows I played at the end of October and early November but time is moving so fast! Next week sees me working at MLC-Academy which is an exciting new teaching facility in Nottingham! The MLC-Academy brand will soon pop up in many other cities too so watch this space and keep informed.

Rory and I are recording late Tuesday evening and Jim Farey and I shall continue to prepare for our trip to LA in January.

Yesterday was great fun! Rory and I finally made it in to a studio together at the same time to record tracks for Music Learning Curve and our forthcoming album, Jazzy, Funky, Cool!

Prior to yesterday Rory and I would email each other tracks and ideas, lay more ideas down and then email them back! A very modern approach that is being employed more and more buy musicians across the world.

Matt Stacey, Dan Ezard, Phil Fryer (Frank) and I performing at London's Intercontinental Hotel, Park Lane for private jet company, Ocean Sky. The event saw Ocean Sky launch the world's most expensive cocktail at an amazing £30,000.00 per glass!

The show was wall-to-wall with broadsheet press, Fashion TV cameras, high society types and lots of beautiful women on the casino tables! Certainly Rat Pack but more Bond perhaps?

Luckily the the affect from the cocktails had warn off by the time I had finished the 2nd set as I needed to drive home in order to prepare for a recording and filing session with Canadian bass player, Rory Bohler.

A busy week indeed!

On the road again with Jo Copeman!

Here we go again! Wednesday 3rd October 2007 and Jo's Shirly Bassey show is booked to perform at the Belfry - one of England's premier golf clubs which plays host to the Ryder Cup!

The setting comprised of a large stage with a screen projecting imagery and footage for all to see!

We often arrive mid afternoon and Matt (musical director) organises the set and will often throw in a new number. This of course results in using the soundcheck as a rehearsal!

The show was a lot of fun for many reasons save to say my laughing fit at the beginning of the second set which resulted in me counting in the first tune with tears in my eyes!

A fantastic show and I look forward to being out there again!

Backstage with "To be Frank" production

As you may recall, Drummer Paul Hose and Musical Director, Matt Stacey have been working on a drum transcript book called "Rat Pack & You!"

As the completition of this book nears Paul has released a clip from a performance given earlier this year at the Theatre Royal, Windsor. The clip can be viewed at MLC-TV.

The final leg of the 2007 tour starts again on October 3rd with shows being performed almost weekly until December 29th.

It's almost time for me to hit the road on the last leg of this year's tour! Almost three months of shows covering most of the UK. So i'll be in the chair for Matt Stacey's band who in turn provide the very best in swing for Phil Fryer's Sinatra show and Jo Copeman's Shirly Bassey show. It will be great fun and I'm looking forward to it.

Back on the road again after a two-month summer break, Phil Fryer's "Just to be Frank" show played at London's Art's Club opposite to Ritz!

The event was for a private audience of Officers from Britain's armed forces other dignatries and their families.

It was great to catch up with Dan Ezard (bass) Phil (Frank) and of course, Musical Director, Matt Stacey (Piano) again! I Will start posting video diaries via my Youtube channel shortly.

July is proving to be a crazy month! MLC is moving at 90mph! I played 2 shows this month (both Shirly and Frank.) They were great fun and as always, it's a pleasure to play with Matt Stacey and his band.

A message from Marcella

My Father's life-long dream was to own a farm and we were all delighted when his dream came true when in January 1998 he purchased Fazenda Maryell. Maryell - Maria (my Mother,) Muryell (my sister) and of course, me, Marcella.

However is dream was short lived as my Father died from cancer in 2001. After his passing we were lost. Afraid. We had no idea what to do with the farm, we only knew that we could not lose it.

Now we look to the future.

My husband, Paul fell in love with the farm the second he visited it and our boys, Jack and Alex have had the time of their lives riding horses, fishing and seeing to the chickens and cattle.

I only realised recently that my Father planted a tree for me when I was born. The World needs more trees and it needs them here in the Amazon. With this in mind, Mury, my Mother and I ask you to share in our dream - my Father's dream - and plant a tree on our reserve for all to benefit in times to come.

All of my British drum teachers would say.... "You must read!" and my Amercian teachers simply took it for granted! Why? Because it empowers you. It enables you to arrive for a sound-check, be given a new chart, do one run-through and perform it that very night!

Case-in-point:

30 minutes after my arrival, we are running a new song that was performed that evening! Fantastic fun :)

Another crazy drive to Sommerset and back in 12 hours but as ever, it was all worth it. The band were on fire and Jo's vocal seems to get better and better!

A lovely Sunday afternoon in Windsor! What more could I ask for? The show: Phil Fryer's tribute to Frank Sinatra. The theatre was packed, the band were on-form and the show was stunning! I filmed the show but haven't reviewed the tapes just yet. I'll keep you informed.

Loughborough University student union:

It was great to see everyone again after a three-month break! The venue was tremendous - great guys, well organised front of house and hospitality!

As you can imagine, the place was packed out with an enthusiastic crowd which added an extra level of energy to the show. The line up featured MD, Matt Stacey on Piano, Dan Ezard on Bass and Eddy on Guitar.

Jo was on form - a great performance and a great evening. Here is to Friday when we do it again on England's south coast.
